Data roaming on a Singapore eSIM: when you need it

  • Only if it will not start
  • On for the eSIM line
  • Off at home

The short answer

The eSIM runs on a Singapore network, so data roaming is normally not needed: leave it off. If the eSIM line does not connect, turn data roaming on for the eSIM line and try again; that is the store's own guidance. Keep data roaming off on your home line.

When to switch it on

The eSIM connects to a Singapore network, one of Singtel, StarHub, M1 or SIMBA. A line that connects and passes data needs no switches touched. A line that will not connect is the only case for data roaming on the eSIM line, then a retry: the store marks that switch as the fix when a line will not start.

Where the switches are

iPhone route: Settings, Cellular, choose the eSIM line, Data Roaming. Android: under the SIM settings, the eSIM holds the Roaming switch. The home line gets the same look, with the switch left off.

If it fails (Data roaming)

Signal showing but data stuck? Make the eSIM line the mobile data line again and confirm data roaming is on for it. Then follow not connecting.
