The short answer

Singapore has no dry season: rain falls in every month, and the heaviest rain comes from November to January. Two monsoon seasons shape the year, the Northeast Monsoon from December to early March and the Southwest Monsoon from June to September, with inter-monsoon months between them; February is the driest month.

  • Northeast Monsoon: December to early March; its wet phase, usually December to early January, brings monsoon surges, widespread rain and at times strong winds.
  • The dry phase: late January to early March, windy and relatively dry; February is the driest month of the year.
  • Inter-monsoon: late March to May and October to November, with hot afternoons above 32 degrees and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
  • Southwest Monsoon: June to September, with Sumatra squalls before dawn and midday and short afternoon showers.
  • Sun and haze: February and March record the most sunshine hours and November and December the fewest; slight to moderate haze can appear during the Southwest Monsoon and on light-wind inter-monsoon days.
